I don’t send many like this one.
This isn’t a newsletter update. There’s no article, no development progress report, no branding news. I’ll save that for next week’s news. This is just me – C.J. Riley – talking directly to the people who have followed this journey.
I need to ask you for something.
A Trickster’s War has been out for a while now. The feedback I receive personally has been genuinely encouraging – readers tell me the world feels real, that Mace’s story stays with them, that the factions feel frighteningly plausible. That means everything to me.
But on Amazon and Goodreads – the places where independent books either get discovered or disappear – the review count sits close to zero.
Here is the truth that most authors don’t say out loud:
Reviews are oxygen for an independent book. Without them, Amazon’s algorithm treats the book as if it doesn’t exist. It doesn’t get recommended. It doesn’t get surfaced. It doesn’t find the readers who would love it. Two minutes of your time is the difference between this series having a future and it quietly fading out before Book Two even arrives.
I am not asking you to lie or exaggerate. I am asking you to write two or three honest sentences about what the book meant to you – or even just what kind of reader you think would enjoy it.
That’s it. That’s all it takes.
